Groundcovers

How do you choose the right groundcover for your garden? Groundcover comes in a variety of different forms. There are plants that spread by runners, such as blue bugle flower, and trailing plants. Mat-forming plants such as baby's tears and thrift are excellent groundcovers, as are those that spread by horizontal growth. Climbing plants such as ivy can also be used successfully as groundcovers. As with any other type of plant, it is important to choose the right groundcover for the aspect, climate, soil, and space available. Some ground cover plants are suitable for sunny spots by some prefer shade. Growing a plant in the wrong place will lead to disappointment. Some groundcovers plants can be very vigorous, and need constant control is planted in a small garden. However, majority of groundcover plants tend to take care of themselves, as long as they are given favorable aspects and soil conditions.
